Is eczema preventable?

Eczema is an extreme individual condition difficult to find cure but can be prevented if proper hygiene and medication are properly observed. Eczema treatment involves different methods upon controlling the conditions and all its symptoms. Combination of several medicines could be used. Steroids and emollients usage can help minimizing severe case of atopic eczema, but be aware that if one medication is effective for one person it is possible that it is not compatible to another person. However there are two ways on how to prevent its severity:

- Reduce skin itchiness to minimize damages of scratching by using soft cotton clothes and beddings to maintain a cool environment allowing the skin to breathe, use non-biological powder for washing instead of fabric softeners, nails of children should always be cut short, distracting child’s attention during the day prevents scratching as well cotton mittens on children’s hands is helpful in minimizing skin damage at night.

- Reduce the allergens caused by house dust mites that are most likely to live in mattresses, beddings, carpets and curtains. This can be done by bed airing, regular and effective vacuuming and dust damping. Conditions of the skin can be improved.
